Description

Static Pawpaw is a 1992 GMC Sierra SLE. I bought it in 2017 as something to drive back and forth to work. The truck had been sitting for about a year with the original engine locked up. Once I got it home it was time to find a new engine. I found a NAPA crate 350 a guy was going to put in a 30s Model A. So I get the truck running and got all of the bugs worked out. Then I was getting ready to do my first ever lower kit install. I ordered the McGaughys 4/6 kit and found some old 15” rally wheels to throw on. That look only lasted a couple years. Then I got tired of the lowered look so I decided to take the lowering kit off and go back to stock. I drove it like that for maybe a year then that’s when I started toying with the idea of a new paint job. So I talked to a friend of mine that’s an awesome painter about doing it and we agreed on a price then I began the tear-down process. Little by little things began to come off trim, emblems, molding, etc. I was still driving it in the meantime until I got as far as I could. Once I had everything sanded down it was time to take off the last few pieces like the taillights, headlights, and grill and load it on the trailer. After I dropped the truck off I was looking at the parts I took off and was like I can’t put this stuff back on. A nice new paint job needs to have nice new parts to go with it. So I would just order what I could here and there. Once a new part would come in I would ceramic coat it and put it back in the package so when the truck was finished all of the parts were ready to be installed. I picked up the truck a little before thanksgiving 2020 got it back to the shop and started installing all of its new parts. A few months later I decided to get some new wheels and tires as well. (U.S. MAGS would later become a sponsor) I absolutely hated to look of the truck. The height, stance, and wheels just weren’t working together. (During this time we picked up our first sponsor from C/K Society on August 2nd) So I did some research on different front lowering kits (I still had the rear kit from before but sold the spindles) and IHC Suspension was the winner so I ordered their control arm kit. (IHC Suspension would later become a sponsor) After installing the new kit for the front and I put the old McGaughys back on the rear “Static Pawpaw” was born on August 14th. A super huge shoutout to our sponsors C/K Society, IHC Suspension, U.S. MAGS. I love you guys!!!!!
